The laboratory of Professor Xiaole Shirley Liu (http://liulab.dfci.harvard.edu/) invites applications for a 2-3 year postdoctoral position at the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology at at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard School of Public Health. The research in the laboratory focuses on the integrative modeling of transcription and epigenetic regulation. We develop algorithms for the analyses of transcription factor ChIP-chip (Johnson et al, PNAS 2006) and ChIP-seq (Zhang et al, submitted), nucleosome occupancy (Oszolak et al, Nat Biotech 2006) and epigenetics (Lupien et al, Cell 2008), transcription factor motif finding (Liu et al, Nat Biotech 2002) and regulatory mechanism modeling (Carroll et al, Nat Gen 2006). We are especially interested in computational analysis of high throughput genomic applications in cancer, autism, aging and stem cells.
Ideal applicant should:
Have a PhD degree in related field (physical sciences or biology)
Have strong programming skills: ((Python or Perl) and (C or C++ or Java) and R)
Have a strong quantitative background (Bayesian network, HMM, differential equations, etc.) or computational genomics experiences (DNA sequence analysis, microarray analysis, etc.)
Have at least two first author papers (co-first author is OK) written in English in previous area of research with submitted, accepted or published status in journals or conference proceedings
Have good spoken and written communication skills
Be able to visit Boston for interviews without a visa application. This is imperative.
Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest with a one-page proposal for a project to be conducted in the Liu Lab, CV, and three references (including name and contact information) to xsliu (At) jimmy (Dot) harvard (Dot) edu with subject line “Postdoctoral application.”
